Registration now open for HACKaBRAIN at Brain Film Fest 2025!

In 2025, the Brain Film Fest takes a huge leap forward with an exciting and innovative new venture: the first edition of HACKaBRAIN, a hackathon that will blend creativity, communication, and science to transform how we understand and communicate brain health. Over two intense days, on 7th and 9th March at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), students and professionals from all fields will come together to create impactful, creative solutions to three scientific challenges.

With guidance from mentors specialised in neuroscience, communication, and design, participants will tackle three thrilling challenges to revolutionise our understanding of the brain and its diseases.

This hackathon will be a unique opportunity to combine passion, science, and innovation, while also contributing to a real change in raising awareness about brain health. We will work on three challenges: finding new ways to disseminate preventive strategies for dementia, especially for subjective cognitive decline; developing creative narratives to raise awareness about the impact of Alzheimer’s on women; and exploring how to communicate advancements in biomarkers for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, using innovative tools and emerging technologies.

The hackathon will be split into two sessions:

• Friday 7th March (16:00-21:00): Immersion into the challenges and group work, with scientific, technical, and creative mentors to guide the participants.
• Sunday 9th March (10:00-21:00): Teams will define and present their projects, with the chance to win prizes such as Sónar+D passes, CCCB membership cards, and Filmin subscriptions.

Registrations are open for participants with diverse backgrounds, including communication, design, science, and innovation. The participation fee is only 10€, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate on challenges that will shape the future of brain health. In addition, the best projects will be awarded fantastic prizes thanks to our partners.
