Registration is now open for HACK’A’BRAIN 2026

Registration is now open for the second edition of HACK’a’BRAIN, the Brain Film Fest hackathon connecting architecture, design, creativity and brain health to imagine spaces that care.

Registration for HACK’a’BRAIN 2026 is now open. The second edition of the hackathon will take place on 6, 8 and 9 October 2026, with an initial online session followed by two in-person days at D-HUB Barcelona.

Under the theme “Think, design and care: brain health in your surroundings”, HACK’a’BRAIN offers an interdisciplinary space to rethink the environments we inhabit from a care perspective, with a particular focus on people living with cognitive impairment.

During the hackathon, participants will work in teams to develop ideas and prototypes addressing two major challenges: domestic spaces and public spaces. The initiative is open to students and professionals working in architecture, design, innovation and the creative arts, as well as professionals working in neurology, neuropsychology, occupational therapy and other areas of health and care.

The first mentors have been confirmed

One of the key elements of HACK’a’BRAIN is the support provided to teams throughout the working process. The hackathon will therefore bring together mentors from different professional fields, who will contribute their experience, knowledge and expert perspectives to help teams develop and refine their proposals.

The first confirmed profiles include professionals linked to Estudi Emiliana, an architecture practice; Pinearq, an architecture practice specialising in the design of healthcare and social care facilities; and the Rai Pinto team, specialising in interior design and healthcare spaces. Professionals linked to the Col·legi de Terapeutes Ocupacionals de Catalunya (COTOC) will also take part, alongside professionals working in the care and support of people with cognitive impairment, such as the Centre de Dia La Magnòlia.

This diversity of profiles will allow teams to develop and challenge their ideas from different perspectives and incorporate criteria of accessibility, functionality, orientation, wellbeing and care into their projects.

Take part in HACK’a’BRAIN 2026

Registration is open until 15 September 2026 and participants can register individually or as a team. The participation fee is €10 per person.

Before registering, we recommend carefully reading the participation rules and all the information about how the hackathon works.

Have an idea? A creative, architectural or care-related background? Or simply an interest in working across disciplines to imagine spaces that care better? HACK’a’BRAIN 2026 is waiting for you.
