HACK’A’BRAIN 2026: designing to care for the brain

The Brain Film Fest hackathon is back — a gathering that brings together creativity, architecture, and brain health to rethink how we live and how we care for people with cognitive impairment.

HACK’a’BRAIN 2026 will take place on October 6, 8, and 9 in Barcelona, with an initial online session and two intensive in-person days at the D-HUB.

During the hackathon, interdisciplinary teams made up of students and professionals will work on two major challenges: how to make domestic spaces safer and how to design public environments that are more accessible, understandable, and human-centered.

The project is open to profiles from the fields of architecture, design, innovation, and the creative arts, as well as healthcare and care professionals. A diversity of perspectives is key to generating solutions with real impact.

Participants will work with the support of mentors specialized in neuroscience, architecture, and design, who will guide the development of proposals throughout the entire process.
